San Francisco’s vacant storefronts tax will be on hold through the end of 2021, as businesses grapple with the pandemic.
The Board of Supervisors voted 11-0 Tuesday to defer enforcement of Proposition D, which imposed a $250 per street-facing square foot tax on spaces vacant for more than 182 days in a calendar year. Prop. D, which was supposed to go into effect next year, passed in March with about 70% of voters’ approval.
