South Africa Tax Agency Posts 2026 Budget Speech

The South African Revenue Service Feb. 25 posted online the 2026 budget speech delivered by the Minister of Finance. The speech describes measures to: 1) withdraw the 20 billion South African rand (US$1.3 billion) in tax increases provisionally included in the May 2025 Budget; 2) adjust individual income tax brackets and rebates for inflation; 3) increase, to 46,000 rand (US$2,888) annually from 36,000 rand (US$2,260), the tax-free annual investment limit; 4) increase, to 430,000 rand (US$26,998) from 350,000 rand (US$21,975), the limit on retirement fund deductions; 5) increase, to 2.3 million rand (US$144,408) from 1 million rand (US$62,786), the compulsory ...
