South Carolina DOR Announces Updates to Local Sales Taxes

The South Carolina Department of Revenue (DOR) annouced that effective May 1, sales tax in Williamsburg County will increase to 8 percent because the county will be adding a new Capital Projects Tax. The announcement also states that Aiken County will be maintaining the 8 percent sales tax rate because it is reimposing its Capital Projects Tax effective May 1, and that Lexington County will be extending its School District Tax effective March 1, thereby maintaining the 7 percent sales tax rate.
