South Dakota Amends Tax Structure for Online Pari-Mutuel Wagering Platforms

The South Dakota Governor signed a law amending certain statutes to require licensure for online pari-mutuel wagering platforms for horse and dog races. The law includes: 1) clarifying the tax structure for these operations; 2) establishing different tax rates for multi-jurisdictional totalizator hubs; and 3) specifying that operators without physical presence in South Dakota are taxed only on contributions from individuals within the state.
