Sri Lanka Tax Agency Announces February 2026 VAT Return Filing Deadline

The Sri Lankan Inland Revenue March 18 announced the March 31 filing deadline for February 2026 VAT returns. The announcement also includes that: 1) February 2026 VAT returns must be filed electronically; 2) penalties will be imposed for failing to submit a return or submitting an incorrect return; 3) input VAT credits for local purchases or imports will be denied if claimed on returns filed more than 12 or 24 months after the deadline, respectively; and 4) VAT returns for any taxable period ending within 24 months from the customs declaration date can be used to claim VAT paid on ...
