California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is likely to sign a bill to set higher thresholds for out-of-state sellers to collect and remit sales tax than what state regulators put in place April 1.
The Senate approved A.B. 147 35-0 April 4, sending it back to the Assembly for one last vote before it can go to Newsom’s desk. He supports the measure, a spokesman told Bloomberg Tax. The Assembly vote could happen as soon as April 8.
