West Virginia lawmakers have sent Gov. Jim Justice (R) a bill that would extend the state’s sales tax collection requirements to marketplace facilitators.
H.B. 2813 received final approval from the Legislature March 8 and is expected to become law. The pending bill would treat marketplace facilitators as out-of-state retailers and subject them to the tax collection and remittance requirements starting July 1.
Extending the collection requirements to marketplace facilitators is estimated to generate about $6.3 million in additional revenue for the state in the next fiscal year.
