State of Wayfair: Will Hawaii Become a Tax Trendsetter? (1)

Hawaii has hitched the Wayfair decision to its corporate income tax, but will other states follow?

The chances are better than 50-50, said Morgan Scarboro, a senior policy analyst with the government relations consulting firm MultiState Associates.

“Following Hawaii’s passage, I think there’s a good chance other states will attempt to follow, but there will likely be legal and administrative challenges depending upon the state and the thresholds,” Scarboro said in an email.
