Target Subsidiary Sues Florida Over $10 Million Tax Bill

A Target subsidiary is suing Florida over a $10 million corporate income tax bill it says was calculated using the wrong apportionment method.

The complaint, filed Dec. 22 with Leon County Circuit Court in Florida, alleges the state’s Department of Revenue determined Minnesota-based Target Enterprise Inc.'s income tax assessment solely on the presence of its employees in the Sunshine State, when state law sources income via a combination of sales, property, and payroll factors.
