Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) vetoed what he called an “overly broad” tax code change for alcohol producers that was included in the state’s fiscal 2021 budget package.
The provision Beshear objected to would have treated breweries and distilleries like other manufacturers in Kentucky, letting them qualify for a “new and expanded industry credit” sales tax exemption for equipment at taprooms—locations that both make and serve beverages.
