The Tennessee Department of Revenue (DOR) announced that taxpayers in Johnson County voted to increase the local sales tax rate, as well as the local consumer tax rate, to two percent, effective Jan. 1, 2025. The new rate applies to all taxable sales of tangible personal property and services in Johnson County and its cities, and the local option tax rate in Johnson County is applicable to the first $1,600 of the sales price of any single article of tangible personal property sold, unless that item is specifically exempted from local tax or taxed at another rate by law.
