The Tennessee Department of Revenue (DOR) has issued a notice regarding changes to how the United States Postal Service (USPS) postmark will be applied, which could impact the timely filing of tax returns sent to the Department. Effective December 24, 2025, the USPS postmark date will reflect when the mail is first processed at a postal facility, rather than the date when the USPS initially took possession of the mail.
