Texas Comptroller Agrees to Delay Local Online Sales Tax Rules

Five Texas cities reached an agreement with state Comptroller Glenn Hegar to delay enforcement of new rules shifting the flow of local sales tax from online commerce before they take effect Oct. 1.

The rules are on hold until at least June 2022, when a trial is expected on the merits of the cities’ arguments that the rules conflict with state law. Texas Assistant Attorney General Matthew T.
