Texas Exempts Counties From Paying Motor Fuel Taxes

The Texas legislature passed a law exempting counties from paying motor fuel taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel used exclusively by the counties. Texas counties that paid these taxes can file for a refund with the comptroller. The law takes effect on July 1, 2025. [H.B. 1109, enacted 05/26/25]
