The Texas Comptroller’s Office on Wednesday launched a database for economic development deals awarded by local governments.
Gov. Greg Abbott (R) signed legislation (H.B. 2404) last year to increase transparency.
The online platform would allow the public to search for authorized economic development agreements under two programs of the Local Government Code. Chapter 380 authorizes municipalities to offer incentives to promote economic development, such as commercial and retail projects, while Chapter 381 allows counties to provide the same incentives.
