Uber Subpoena Fight With San Francisco Goes Back to Trial Court

A trial court will dig deeper into San Francisco’s claims that it needs to scrutinize Uber Technologies Inc. to see exactly who is making money on the city’s streets.

Uber and its hometown have fought for years over the city’s quest to determine who is driving. The California Superior Court ruled in 2017 that the San Francisco Treasurer and Tax Collector’s Office had the right to issue Uber a subpoena seeking information about thousands of drivers to verify compliance with the city’s business license requirements.
