The Utah State Tax Commission announced changes to sales tax rates effective Jan. 1, 2026. The botanical, cultural, recreational, and zoological tax in Monticello is set to expire, decreasing the combined sales tax rate to 6.65 percent, while Big Water and Torrey will impose a new 1.1 percent resort communities’ tax, raising the combined rates to 8.45 percent and 9.05 percent, respectively, in those cities.
