The Utah State Tax Commission has released a bulletin announcing the imposition of a 0.5 percent capital city revitalization sales and use tax in Salt Lake City, effective Jan. 1, 2025. The new tax, which excludes certain items such as motor vehicles and mobile homes, will increase the combined sales and use tax rate in Salt Lake City to 8.25 percent from 7.75 percent, with collection requirements starting from January 2025 depending on the filing frequency.
