Vermont Department of Taxes Publishes Property Tax Fact Sheet on Homestead Declaration

The Vermont Department of Taxes Feb. 7 published a fact sheet on the Homestead Declaration for property tax purposes. The fact sheet includes information on: 1) the state Homestead Declaration; 2) non-homestead properties; 3) the commercial use of homestead properties; 4) filing requirements and due dates; and 5) the withdrawal of the homestead declaration. The Homestead Declaration for 2023 is due April 18 and no later than Oct. 16. Municipalities may assess a penalty after the April due date. [Vt. Dep’t of Taxes, Fact Sheet FS-1051, 02/07/23]
