The Virginia Governor signed a law that includes providing that the Tax Commissioner develop and offer a modern electronic tax return filing services program directly to Virginia individual taxpayers without monetary charge and be made available to taxpayers in taxable years beginning on and after Jan. 1, 2028. The law takes effect on July 1 and the legislation is identical to S.B. 591. [H.B. 1180, enacted 03/31/26]
