Virginia taxpayers will begin receiving rebate checks of $200 for individual filers and $400 for joint filers in a few weeks under the state’s one-time tax relief program, Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) announced Wednesday.
Generally, anyone who had a tax liability for the 2024 tax season and filed a return by Nov. 3 is eligible. Tax liability is defined as the amount a taxpayer owes throughout the year minus any credits, deductions, or subtractions. The Virginia Department of Taxation cautioned that not all taxpayers are eligible and encouraged residents to check the agency’s rebate lookup tool.
