Virginia lawmakers have teed up a package of tax legislation Monday that would place more restrictions on data center incentives and look to the industry to help fund conservation projects and even to phase out the state’s dreaded car tax.
A House Finance Committee panel heard presentations from lawmakers and public comments on six bills and passed them along to the full committee to consider later this week. The bills come as elected officials hear complaints about rising energy bills and local impacts from the data center industry. Virginia is the country’s biggest data center hub.
