The Washington Department of Revenue (DOR) announced that the IRS has extended the tax filing and payment deadline for businesses and individuals, due to severe storms and flooding that began Dec. 9, 2025. Taxpayers must request an extension for their state capital gains return by May 1 and receive a filing extension for their federal income tax return to be eligible for the Oct. 15 state excise tax return extension.
