Washington DOR Issues Information on Sales and Use Tax Not Listed on Invoice

The Washington Department of Revenue Sept. 28 issued information on sales and use tax that isn’t listed on an invoice. Washington sellers and some out-of-state sellers have a responsibility to collect the state retail sales tax. The information includes: 1) buyers who receive an invoice that doesn’t include sales tax should ask the vendor to issue a new invoice itemizing the amount of sales tax due; 2) if the vendor won’t issue a corrected invoice, buyers can pay the tax directly on their excise tax or consumer use tax returns; 3) buyers shouldn’t add the sales tax to the invoice ...
