Washington DOR Issues Updated Sales, Excise Tax Information on Doing Business in Indian Country

The Washington Department of Revenue (DOR) March 1 issued updated information on doing business in Indian Country. Taxpayers may be entitled to favorable sales and use and excise tax treatment based on federal or tribal law. Taxpayers can search the DOR’s Tax Rate Lookup Tool to determine if an address is in Indian Country. If taxpayers believe the location is part of Indian Country, they should get supporting documentation, such as a map or official letter from the tribe, for their records.
