Washington: Seattle Voters Approve Payroll Tax on Salaries Over $1 Million

The City of Seattle Washington voters approved a 5 percent payroll tax on compensation above $1 million to fund affordable housing. The new tax, offered as Proposition 1A, won support from 63 percent of voters, according to final results tabulated Feb. 21 for King County’s Feb. 11 election.
