Wisconsin DOR Issues Information on Fraud, Identity Theft Protection

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) Dec. 5 issued information on fraud and identity theft protection for individual income taxpayers. More than $55 million in fraudulent and erroneous tax refunds and credits were blocked last tax season thanks in part to the DOR’s use of identity verification tools. The DOR urged shoppers to be cautious and protect themselves from cybercriminals looking to steal personal information that could help them file fraudulent tax returns.
