Wisconsin DOR Issues Proposed Guidance on Common Sales and Use Tax Questions

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) March 2 issued proposed guidance on common sales and use tax questions. The proposed guidance includes information on: 1) sales and use tax filing requirements and filing extensions; 2) record keeping requirements; 3) sales tax refund claims; 4) when a taxpayer must notify the DOR when closing their business; and 5) whether sales tax applies to the sale of business assets.
