Wisconsin DOR Issues Tax Bulletin on Remote Retail Sales of Cigars, Pipe Tobacco

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) July 1 issued a tax bulletin on the remote sales of cigars and pipe tobacco for excise tax purposes. The bulletin includes: 1) updates on new tax laws; 2) general updates for tax professionals; 3) the Act authorizing remote retail sales of cigars and pipe tobacco; 4) the excise tax rate of 71 percent imposed on cigars and pipe tobacco, effective Jan. 1, 2025; and 5) general updates and reminders for various taxes.
