The Republican-controlled Wisconsin Senate approved legislation to provide more than $2 billion in tax relief to filers over the next two years, but Democratic Gov. Tony Evers has already said the package is dead on arrival.
The Senate on Tuesday passed a special legislative session measure (Substitute Amendment 1 to Senate Bill 1) by a vote of 21-11. The bill still requires action in the Republican-controlled Assembly before heading to Evers.
