Wyden Queries $370 Million Fuel Credit Cheniere Claimed

An energy company that claimed $370 million in alternative fuel tax credits for burning the liquid natural gas in its tankers is getting questions from the top Democratic tax writer.

Senate Finance ranking member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.). sent a letter—obtained by Bloomberg Tax—to Cheniere Energy, Inc., President and CEO Jack A. Fusco, on Thursday, seeking information on what Wyden called a “novel and highly questionable tax position.”

Wyden’s letter, which is part of an oversight probe into IRS operations, was sent in the wake of an earlier letter Democrats sent to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent of the same issue. ...
