$1t Infrastructure Plan Could Help Economy With Virus: Shelby

A $1 trillion plan focused on infrastructure spending could help protect the U.S. economy from the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, Senate Appropriations Cmte Chairman Richard Shelby says.

  • “They probably need $1 trillion for infrastructure over a number of years,” Shelby says ahead of meeting with President Trump and other Senate Republicans on a potential stimulus package to address the virus’s impact
    • “We’ve needed it a long time but we have to figure out how to pay for it,” Shelby says, referring to infrastructure spending
  • Says $1 trillion amount preferable to the roughly $700 billion being discussed by House Democrats ...
