Adviser Role Key in Tax Crime Complicity, Italian Official Says

An attorney has to play an active role in a tax crime to be found complicit in Italy, an official for the country’s government said Tuesday.

David Pitaro, tax expert at the Cabinet of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, said the attorney or other intermediary must be “providing material contribution to the finalization of the tax crime of the client and pursuing tax evasion” to be found complicit.

“One thing’s for sure, the attorney has to play an active role,” he added.
