Aflac Matriarch’s Estate, IRS Settle $11.2 Million Tax Dispute

The estate of a family behind insurance company Aflac Inc. and the IRS have settled an $11.7 million tax dispute.

The estate of Jean Amos no longer owes tax deficiencies related to its sale of assets at a lower cost during the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a stipulated decision entered by Judge Emin Toro of the US Tax Court. Amos, who is the wife of Aflac co-founder Paul Amos, died in 2019.
