The Senate panel that oversees commodities will vote on legislation establishing regulations for cryptocurrencies next week, joining the panel with jurisdiction over securities in attempting to advance the highly anticipated creation of a market structure for digital assets.
The Agriculture Committee’s vote on the digital commodities bill will take place Jan. 15, according to Sara Lasure, a spokesperson for the panel’s chair, Sen. John Boozman (R-Ark.). The Senate Banking Committee will mark up the securities portion of the proposed law the same day.
