Aramark Gets $444,000 Food Sales Tax Refund, Arkansas Court Says

Aramark Educational Services LLC is entitled to an approximately $444,000 sales tax refund because it sold food items to a university which resold them to students, an Arkansas appeals court said Wednesday.

The city of Pine Bluff’s Advertising and Promotion Commission failed to rebut the affidavit filed by a University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff official, who said that the contract between Aramark and the university indicated that the company sold the food to the university for resale, the court said. The company therefore met the state’s requirements for a sale-for-resale tax exemption.
