Argentina Extends Income Tax Deadline to July Due to Virus

May 21, 2020, 12:27 AM UTC

Argentina’s tax authority, AFIP, said Wednesday it’s giving individuals more time to declare income taxes and other assets.

The deadlines have been extended by more than 40 days from mid-June to the end of July following complaints from accountants that Argentina’s strict quarantine measures from the pandemic are preventing them from auditing clients.

  • AFIP said that the measures would benefit more than 2 million taxpayers.
  • The government has banned all non-essential movement since mid-March and, as the number of coronavirus cases continue to rise, there have been reports that the measures may extended into June.
