The Arkansas Attorney General (AG) issued Opinion concluding that a postage meter date stamp does not satisfy the requirements for timely payment of property taxes by mail under Arkansas law. The opinion addressed a situation where a constituent used a mail meter that placed an Oct. 15, 2025, date stamp on a property tax payment, but the payment did not receive a United States Postal Service postmark until Oct. 17, 2025, leading the Benton County Tax Collector to assess a late fee.
