The Australian Taxation Office says its loss in a yearslong tax dispute with PepsiCo Inc. will have limited ramifications for future enforcement efforts and regulatory interpretations because of the unique facts of the case.
PepsiCo’s 4-3 win at the country’s High Court last year hasn’t derailed the ATO’s focus on embedded royalties and asserting diverted profits tax when appropriate, the agency said in a decision impact statement dated Wednesday.
