BAT Bangladesh Wins 19.24B Taka Tax Dispute in Court Battle

Feb. 3, 2022, 8:46 AM UTC

Top court rejects National Board of Revenue’s retrospective demand for 19.24 billion taka in value-added tax and supplementary duty as “unlawful and unjustified,” British American Tobacco Bangladesh says in a stock exchange filing.

  • Tax dispute started after NBR served notice on the company in 2013 “by restating Bristol and Pilot brands in the mid segment rather than the low segment”
  • Supreme Court of Bangladesh heard and dismissed review petitions by NBR in December on previous court orders
