Belgium plans to discuss with European Union finance ministers in June a proposal to create a single EU tax base for large corporations amid EU countries and business groups expressing resistance to the plan.
Belgium presently chairs the Council of the EU, in which member country governments meet, and wanted to “push ahead” with the plan, known as the Business in Europe: Framework for Income Taxation (BEFIT), said Alexandre Brecx, spokesperson for the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
