Bessent Dodges ‘Anti-Weaponization’ Fund Questions in Senate (1)

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent faced questions from Democrats on a controversial settlement related to a $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund and immunity from audits for President Donald Trump in testimony with Senate lawmakers Wednesday.

Bessent said the Treasury Department intended to comply with a court order pausing payments.

“This matter is still subject to ongoing litigation, so I am unable to comment further on it,” Bessent said in front of the Senate Finance Committee, directing further questions on the audits portion of the settlement to the Department of Justice.
