Direct payments in the fiscal 2021 omnibus spending and virus aid package would be increased to $2,000 for individuals, from $600, and to $4,000 for couples, from $1,200, under H.R. 9051.

The measure also would provide $2,000 payments for each dependent, replacing a $600 per-child payment in the spending law (H.R. 133). A version released on Dec. 24 would have provided additional payments per qualifying child, rather than dependents.

The measure wouldn’t modify other rules, such as the phasing out of payments for individuals with adjusted gross incomes of more than $75,000, or $150,000 for couples.
