Bipartisan Crypto Bill Downplayed by Senior House GOP Tax Aide

Republican staff for the House Ways and Means Committee are eschewing a bipartisan proposal to regulate the taxation of digital assets and preparing to propose their own policy options.

Reps. Max Miller (R-Ohio) and Steven Horsford (D-Nev.), who both serve on the panel, last month put out a rough draft of legislation that would provide a safe harbor for some stablecoin transactions and delay taxation on staking rewards.

But a top aide to the tax-writing panel’s chair said Wednesday that committee staff are briefing members on the issue and will offer policy options in the future.
