Business-and-Child Tax Bill Is Stuck Following Senate Break

Senators are back from a nearly two week break, but little progress has been made to resolve disputes over advancing the $78 billion business and child tax break bill.

With tax-filing season well underway, Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said he’s urging lawmakers to take action on the legislation that has stalled in his chamber, but the bill faces competing priorities and persistent concerns from Republicans.

“This is the time to get to yes,” Wyden said to reporters Tuesday. “There’s a lot on the line for American families and for American small businesses.”
