The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio granted the taxpayer’s motion authorizing the administrator of a court-established qualified settlement fund (QSF) to file federal and state tax returns and pay taxes on interest income earned by the fund. The court permitted the administrator to pay any taxes imposed on the QSF’s earnings from the fund’s income and to comply with applicable reporting and withholding requirements under state and federal tax laws.
