Californians to Vote on Tribal Sports Betting Next Year

A citizen’s initiative to legalize sports wagering on California tribal lands has qualified for the November 2022 general election ballot, California Secretary of State officials announced Thursday.

Proponents collected the necessary 997,139 signatures to get the initiative before voters next year, according to a random sample count from the Secretary of State’s office. The measure would legalize sports betting for residents 21 and older at tribal casinos and at the state’s horse racetracks. It would also legalize roulette and dice games, such as craps, at tribal casinos.
