Canada’s national tax authority warned Wednesday of service disruptions as 35,000 tax workers went on strike alongside other federal public employees over pay and work conditions.
“There will be delays in processing some income and benefit returns, particularly those filed by paper, and increased wait times in our contact centres,” the Canada Revenue Agency said in a statement.
Individual inquiries will be dealt with on a best effort basis where possible and all paper returns and mail sent to the agency will be stockpiled for future processing, the statement added.
