House Moderates Add to Bevy of Last-Ditch Health Care Proposals

House moderates unveiled a two-year extension for Affordable Care Act premium tax credits Tuesday, another salvo in lawmakers’ struggle to break an impasse over extending subsidies for Americans buying health insurance.

The proposal by centrist Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), co-sponsored by four Democrats and two other Republicans, would continue the subsidies for two years with added income limits. The bill would also give enrollees an option to deposit half of their advanced premium credit to a health savings account, with the other half still going to insurers.
