CFPB Examiners Remain on Leave Despite Agency Work Directive

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau examiners remain on administrative leave despite an email from the agency’s chief operating officer stating employees don’t need approval from senior leadership to perform work mandated by law.

Examiners should still refrain from doing work unless they receive “express permission to work on a task,” according to a Monday email from Cassandra Huggins, the CFPB’s principal deputy assistant director for supervision policy and operations, obtained by Bloomberg Law.

“Please do not work on anything else without authorization,” the email said.
